Developed by the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA), for over 50 years, the CPO program has provided individuals with the knowledge, techniques, and skills required for proper pool operations. The CPO certification is valid for five years and is universally recognized throughout the United States and the world. It is accepted in all 50 states and over 100 countries and is recognized by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Model Aquatic Health Code (CMAHC), and the International Swimming Pool and Spa Code (ISPSC).

John Mason, R.E.H.S., is a Certified Pool & Spa Operator Instructor with over 20 years of hands-on experience in pool and spa operations, environmental health, and regulatory compliance. He is a Registered Environmental Health Specialist with the State of Oregon and has been teaching CPO certification courses statewide since 2007.

With decades of experience in public health and pool operations, John combines practical instruction with regulatory expertise to help students meet health code requirements and operate safer aquatic facilities.
