John Mason

John Mason, is an Registered Environmental Health Specialist with Deschutes County in Bend, OR. For over 20 years he has been the program manager in charge of aquatic facility plan review & development, as well as construction inspections and operation inspections. John was appointed 6 years ago to participate on rule revisions & adoption processes for the International Swimming Pool & Spa code through the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance.

John has been teaching Certified Pool / Spa Operators classes throughout the state for the last 20 years. John is regularly asked to make presentations on pool code interpretations and outbreak investigations to other public health specialists and at various conferences. In March of 2023, Aquatic International magazine highlighted John as one of the aquatic industries ‘movers and shakers’ in its Power Issue.

John Mason, R.E.H.S., is a Certified Pool & Spa Operator Instructor with over 20 years of hands-on experience in pool and spa operations, environmental health, and regulatory compliance. He is a Registered Environmental Health Specialist with the State of Oregon and has been teaching CPO certification courses since 2007.

With decades of experience in public health and pool operations, John combines practical instruction with regulatory expertise to help students meet health code requirements and operate safer aquatic facilities.
